Prams and
Pushchairs
Choosing prams and
pushchairs can be a difficult decision as there are
so many different options to choose from. You need to look
at your choice from two angles, what suits you and what will
suit your child.
First it is best to ask yourself
what it is you do on a regular basis that will involve
prams and pushchairs, if, for example, you regularly get
on and off buses and other public transport you may well
need to consider how portable your choices are. If you
like to go on long walks along mountain tracks or are a
regular at the local beach then you may want something
more rugged and something which can handle being pushed
off road easily, three wheeler pushchairs can be useful
for this as can ones with pneumatic tyres and a good
suspension. Do you have steps that you need to ascend and
descend regularly? If so again a light weight and
portable one may be your best choice.
You may need to consider how small
your stroller will fold up to as they may need to be
packed into a car boot or you may live in a small flat
and be in need of the extra space.
Looking at it from baby’s point of
view you will want to know that it is safe and
comfortable, is it study enough for them, does it have
all the necessary supports for your baby especially if
baby is under 6 months old. Does it break easily and
well?
From a steering point of view you
will want to know does it have lockable wheels, how
easily it can be manoeuvred and whether you can you
adjust the handle height so that it is comfortable to
push and so that it can be adjusted to suit mother or
father or even granny?
Some can be folded with one hand
which is a great feature if getting on and off public
transport with baby in one hand and the pushchair in the
other and if it has a carrying handle when folded then
this is all the better.
Other things you may want to
consider is if you can get suitable rain covers or sun
canopies to cover baby from the elements outside, also it
can be very handy if there is a basket to carry your
shopping and other items such as baby mile and
nappies.
With some prams or strollers you
can turn baby to face you in the early months then after
this they can be turned to face forward, also some have
detachable car seats which is a great bonus when
transferring your baby to the car when they are
sleeping.
Colour is a matter of choice when
purchasing your chosen baby carriage so go and choose one
which you like.
All in all there is a lot to think
about when making your choice so it is best to have a
good look around but we hope that these pages will be
useful to you in choosing.
We hope that this website will
