Prams and
Pushchairs
About prams and pushchairs
Some of the earliest prams date
back to the 1700?s, originally the design was such that a
small animal would pull them more for babies amusement
than anything else. Later on in the 1900?s the design was
added to be a handle on the back allowing parents to push
their child when out and about shopping etc.
By the 1920?s most new parents
would have a pram for their child and still to this day
pretty much every mum and dad will buy a pram for their
baby.
Pushchairs or strollers as they
are also referred to as, were fist seen in the 1920?s but
didn?t become widespread until the 1960?s when
lightweight aluminium pushchairs which folded away were
introduced, the convenience of these devices meant that
it wasn?t long before parents were choosing pushchairs
over prams and still today pushchairs are the more
popular option as they are easier to travel
with.
There are many different types of
pushchair today, some with travel systems where you can
detach a car seat to put baby safely in the car, you can
get double buggies for those who have twins or two young
children close together and you can even buy triple
buggies.
Some are designed to be used on
rough ground for people who like to take long walks with
baby and there are also ones which are suitable for when
you want to jog and have to take baby with
you.
There are a bewildering array of
prams and pushchairs to choose from and they come in a
huge range of prices so you should find one to suit your
budget, you can find out what prams or pushchairs
celebrities are buying just by checking the weekly
magazines but rest assured that most of these will be at
the top of the pricing table as celebrities always want
to look their best and lets face it, they also have
plenty of money to do it too!
Whether you want a pram or a
pushchair is a matter of your own opinion, if you tend to
travel a lot and are on your own you may well want to
lean towards a pushchair but then nothing is nicer than
seeing a new born baby lying in a pram all wrapped up
warm, another option if you can afford it is to buy a
pram and a pushchair so you get the best of both
worlds.
Perhaps this has helped you decide
which pram or pushchair you will want to buy, if so
please let others know.
Good luck on making your
decision.
